Jan,23 1844. description from pension papers. In the service 3 years 3mnths 12 days.

Thomas Shuey was a private in Co. "I" 16th Regiment Iowa Infantry
Thomas was pensioner of the United States under Certificate No 49.588 
Thomas shuey enlisted as a Private on March 19 1862 at the age of 18
enlisted in company I, 16th Infantry Regiment Iowa on 9 Mar 1862
Mustered out  Company I, 16th infantry Regiment Iowa on  25 Jan 1865.
Thomas Shuey deserted his wife Martha Davis on March 2, 1903.They were married on November 6, 1887 in Arkansas. Martha was Thomas 3rd wife,
Thomas first wife died Aug 12, 1844 in Dodge City Ark
Second wife died Feb 1886 in 
Marion Co. Ark
Since my grandfather Bert Shuey was born in 1776 I believe Adella Dickenson was his mother.
My grandfather Bert Shuey help Martha Davis with the paper work for half of Thomas Shuey pension. At this time she lived in Chandler, Lincoln Co. Okla.  This information was found in Thomas Shuey Pension papers from the Civil War.
Also found on the peneion papers some documents giving the last name of Thomas Shuey's first wife (Adella Dickinson) and the birth of there four children.  Also the marriage lic. for Thomas Shuey and Martha Davis and birth  of there two daughters.  Thomas had 7 children altogether. One Child Merrel died young.  The death of his first 2 wives were recorded also.
Thomas enlisted on March 9, 1862 and was honorable discharge on June 20, 1865
